What to do after you register
Once you’ve registered for your MTECH program, complete the following steps to get ready for your first day of class.
Review Class Information
Know your start date and mark it on your calendar. We also recommend locating your classroom and getting to know the campus before the first day.
Complete Student Orientation & Review Student Handbook
Before your program begins, review and complete Student Orientation(opens in new tab) and the Student Handbook(opens in new tab). Both resources provide important information about MTECH policies, student resources, and what to expect in your program.
Get Your Parking Pass
If you plan to park on campus(opens in new tab), please fill out the ‘Student Parking Pass Form’. After submitting the form, you can pick up your parking pass at any Student Services location.
Purchase Program Materials
Check your program requirements to see what materials or supplies are needed. Items can be purchased through the
MTECH Store(opens in new tab).
Get Your Student ID
Your instructor will distribute Student ID cards within the first two weeks of class. To ensure your ID is ready, please be sure that the Testing Center has taken your picture.
Set up FERPA Permissions (optional)
If you want someone else (such as a parent/guardian or spouse) to have access to your student information - like grades or attendance - please complete a FERPA form(opens in new tab).

Understanding FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of your student education records. Under FERPA, you have the right to:
Access your education records
Request corrections to your records
Control who can view your information
At MTECH, we take student privacy seriously. We will not share your personal or academic information with anyone – including parents, guardians, or employers – without your written consent, unless permitted by law. According to FERPA regulations this also includes high school students.
