Medical assistants are multi-skilled healthcare professionals responsible for various clinical and/or administrative duties, and are an essential part of a healthcare team. This program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions that allow them to learn and move into higher-level job opportunities by working with physicians and providers in clinical settings.
Students in this program learn cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains by focusing on administrative and back office clinical skills. Upon successful completion of all required courses, students participate in a clinical externship. Graduates of the program are eligible to take a national certification exam.

Minimum Age Requirement: 17 years old. High school students must be in their senior year.
Registration opens at 8:00 AM on the Student Portal, and remains open until classes are full.
Complete and satisfy score requirements on the Entrance Assessment administered by the Testing Center.

If I want to be a nurse, should I take CNA or Medical Assistant?
If you want to take the nursing pathway, start with your CNA license. If you want to become a PA or Physician, start with Medical Assistant.
If I have registered for MTECH through my high school, is that all I need to do?
No. High school students must also register with MTECH through the Student Portal. Remember, you need to fulfill all prerequisites prior to registering.
How will I know if I am eligible to register?
You will receive an email from the program coordinator letting you know that you’re eligible to register.
What if the program section that I want to register for is already full?
We recommend looking at other campus locations or times. If you don’t get into a class time that you want, please reach out to Student Services to get onto a waiting list.
Are there certain scrubs that I need to get for the program?
Yes, you will purchase your MTECH scrubs through Safeguard. You will be given a link to order scrubs either in a welcome email or on your first day of class. Please purchase a pair of either black or gray scrubs to wear until your order arrives.
Can I register for the program, even if I haven’t completed all the required vaccinations?
No. All four required vaccinations and a TB test must be completed before registering.
Admission requirements may be met by taking the Entrance Assessment OR by providing qualifying documentation. The Entrance Assessment can be taken at a Testing Center, and qualifying documents can be sent to transcripts@mtec.edu.

Once this step is complete, the program coordinator will send an email to confirm registration eligibility.
Once previous steps have been completed, eligibility is met to register for the first course within the program. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Tuition and fees are due for the first course upon registration.
