The Emissions Test Preparation Training (VETP 1000) is a non-credit 20-hour class. The material prepares technicians for the Utah County Emissions Pretest, which is a prerequisite for enrolling in the Utah County Emissions Certification course offered through the Utah County Dept. of Health’s Bureau of Air Quality.

In this MTECH course you will gain a basic knowledge of the automotive engine, mechanical, cooling, fuel, electrical, and emission control systems.

Registration: –

Minimum Age Requirement: 17 years old. High school students must be in their senior year.

Registration opens at 8:00 AM on Learning Stream, and remains open until classes are full.

  • Students must have prior experience working as a mechanic.

  • A valid driver’s license is required.

  • It is recommended to have at least a 10th grade competency level in English and reading.

Upon registration, you will register and submit payment for the first course in the program. Fees and materials may be required upfront, while some may be paid later throughout the program.

While not required, you may make a deposit, in person or online, for the full program upon registration to be held in your student account.

  • Students are prepared to take the Utah County Emissions test. Certification will come through the state after the passing of the exam.

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Tuition and fees are due for the first course upon registration.

Prospective students can register through Learning Stream, or in person at Student Services.
