In the Fabrication and Fitting program, students learn the base principles and practices of metal fabrication across a wide variety of industrial standards. Students learn how to read blueprints and assemble metal products according to engineered drawings. They also learn fabrication skills in accordance to specific standards and codes set in place by major industrial organizations, such as the American Welding Society and the American Petroleum Institute.
This program prepares students for entry-level positions as a Fitter/Fabricator.

Minimum Age Requirement: 16 years old. High school students must be in their junior or senior year.

Is welding taught in this program?
Yes, students are taught multiple welding and cutting processes.
Are students able to choose their personal projects?
Yes, at the end of the year, students have the opportunity to draft, design, and build their own project with their own materials.
What trades are students qualified to enter after completion of this program?
Students are able to work in the following areas: pipefitter, fabricator, oil and gas industry, pipelining industry, iron worker, boilermaker and tank vessels, structural fitting and more.
What is the demand for fabricators in the industry?
There is high demand for fabricators and welders in various fields of the industry. People who can both fabricate and weld will enter the workforce and be more highly sought after. In turn, will often times have a higher starting wage.
In this program, how much of my personal work can I do?
After completing all vocational training, student’s will have a unit specifically for a custom project of their own design.
Admission requirements may be met by taking the Entrance Assessment OR by providing qualifying documentation. The Entrance Assessment can be taken at a Testing Center, and qualifying documents can be sent to transcripts@mtec.edu.

Once previous steps have been completed, eligibility is met to register for the first course within each program. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Tuition and fees are due for the first course upon registration.
