Mountainland Technical College Students Win Record-Setting Number of Awards at SkillsUSA Competition
Hometown talent showcases workforce-ready skills with a 30-medal performance at statewide competition.
LEHI, UT – Students from Mountainland Technical College (MTECH) delivered a remarkable performance at the 2026 Utah SkillsUSA competition, earning a total of 30 medals across a wide range of technical competitions.
MTECH students brought home 11 gold, 11 silver, and 8 bronze medals, marking one of the college’s strongest performances to date. The competition, held March 26-27, featured top high school and college students from across the state, all showcasing their technical expertise in hands-on, career-focused events.
SkillsUSA provides students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom in a competitive, real-world environment. Participants demonstrate technical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and professionalism as they compete against peers from institutions across Utah.
Notably, MTECH students achieved several milestone accomplishments this year, including the college’s first gold medal in Barbering and a standout medal finish in Welding – one of the competition’s most competitive categories.
