MTECH volunteers came together on the National Day of Caring, September 14, 2023, ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work helping with two different service projects.
Early in the day, volunteers assisted with school success projects at Foothill Elementary School in Orem, Utah by painting stencils for the students to enjoy on the playground.
Later that day, volunteers moved over to Kids Who Count in Salem, Utah. Here, volunteers spent their time cleaning gutters, assisting with ground maintenance, gardening, and helping assemble learning packets.
It is important to MTECH to give back to the community and help promote the growth of education throughout the state. The United Way is a wonderful organization that connects MTECH with service projects throughout the different counties.
This experience not only impacted local students, but allowed volunteers to come together with each other and local businesses to form an even bigger community.
Mark Middlebrook, Outreach Manager at MTECH, shared “We helped each school save hundreds of dollars by doing these projects by purchasing the paint for the playground. Hours of enjoyment will allow the student to enjoy playing on new playground games and will be able to use the education resources to learn.”
Mountainland Technical College is home to world-class technical education with campuses throughout Utah’s Wasatch Range. As Utah’s largest technical college, serving more than 6,000 students annually across 42 industry-focused programs, Mountainland’s mission is to enhance the employability of individuals through market-driven career and technical education.
