Most MTECH programs require meeting skill level requirements on the Entrance Assessment prior to registration. The Entrance Assessment measures your reading comprehension and basic math skill levels. This aids in ensuring you are adequately prepared for the basic reading and math principles that will be used in the program you decide to enroll in.
The Entrance Assessment may be waived by bringing a copy of external testing or alternative documentation to the testing center for approval. Counselors, Student Services, and Testing Proctors can help determine if the external testing or alternative documentation meets the specific program admission requirements. View program admission requirements here. The entrance assessment may also be waived by emailing the required documentation to email@example.com.
You do not need to schedule a time. Come in anytime during our business hours.
You’ll need to apply to Mtech first, then bring a photo ID. We’ll provide everything else you need!
It varies on each person, but generally we say about 2 hours. However, there is no time limit to how long you take the test.
It doesn’t matter which location you come to. Come to any of our test centers!
For our Lehi, Provo, and Spanish Fork campuses:
Monday-Thursday 8am-6pm and Friday’s 8am-2pm
There isn’t a study guide currently. We have you come in and take the test first and if you don’t pass, it’ll auto-populate a study guide for you!
There are 2 sections on the test- a reading portion and a math portion. There are 16 questions for each section.
The reading portion you’ll read “work” documents and answer questions about those.
The Math portion tests your knowledge on workplace Math. Math you would use at an ordinary workplace.
We also provide a formula sheet, scratch paper, and a calculator.
If you don’t pass, we’ll give you a study guide, and you can come back and retake it. We generally have you wait a 1-3 days to retake depending on how many times you’ve retaken it.
Currently, there are no set limits. Most will pass on either their 1st or 2nd try.
Yes, all tests need to be taken at one of our testing centers. We don’t have any options to test remotely.
Please reach out to us personally at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can talk with you about options.
Each program varies with what score you need. You can view your programs specific requirements at this link: https://mtec.edu/admission-requirements/
