The primary focus of the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.

Registration the 2023-2024 school year opens April 20, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. online on the MTECH Student Portal and remains open until classes are full. It is recommended to create your MTECH Student Portal account in advance.

Upon registration, you will register and submit payment for the first course in the program. Some fees and materials may be required upfront, while some may be paid later throughout the program.

While not required, you may make a deposit, in person or online, for the full program upon registration to be held in your student account.

  • Students must satisfy entrance requirements with the testing center
  • Must have a current EMT Certification with the State of Utah and a current EMT license with NREMT. Proof must be emailed to the Senior Program Coordinator, Marco Albrecht (malbrecht@mtec.edu) before a student can register.
