Thank you for your interest in the Radiography Technology Program.

Applications are currently closed. Application periods are within the following dates:

February 15 – March 15

Please review the following to ensure you are prepared for when applications are open.

Take the entrance assessment

Students are required to take the MTECH Entrance Assessment and score a passing rate of higher: at least a “4” or provide alternative documentation to prove competency and waive the assessment. The Entrance Assessment is free and takes about an hour to complete. Learn more about this assessment.

Students must have a high school diploma or GED.
Complete Associate's Degree or Healthcare AAS classes

Applicants must have an Associate’s Degree or higher, or have completed all required classes and credits for the AAS in Healthcare Services at UVU, except for the MTECH Program. See UVU’s requirements here.

To apply to our Radiography Technology program, you must complete ONE of the following options regarding prerequisites:

Option 1

  1. Complete your Associate’s degree (or higher) at any college or university of your choice **Private college degree(s) will need to be verified. Prospective students can look at this list to make sure their college degree accreditation meets the ARRT national registry requirements: https://www.arrt.org/pages/partners/schools-educators/accreditation
  2. Take Human Anatomy with Lab (4 credits) and Human Physiology with Lab (4 credits) and earn a B- or higher in each class. These classes must be taken within 5 years of applying to the program.

OR

Option 2

  1. Apply/Transfer/Attend Utah Valley University 
  2. Complete the AAS Healthcare Services degree prerequisites. You will need to take 34 college credits from the AAS Healthcare Services degree list. 
  3. Take Human Anatomy with Lab (4 credits) and Human Physiology with Lab (4 credits) and earn a B- or higher in each class  
    1. After completing an MTECH program, you will be awarded 30 credits that will go toward your UVU Associate’s degree. You can reach out to Emily Hill for any questions you may have about this degree. She is the counselor for the Pre- Radiography Technology Program for MTECH/UVU.   4. If you are transferring to UVU, you may be subject to completing 20 “residential” credits. This means 20 of your credits must be taken from UVU.

Students must satisfy each of the following:

Must be 18 years or older.

How to apply once applications are open:

Pay the $30 non-refundable program application fee to MTECH Student Services.

(Be sure to get a receipt from Student Services as you will need to include it in your application)

Completely fill out the online application packet and upload all of the following documents within the application:

  • Filled out and signed “application for admission” forms
  • Receipt for the $30 MTECH application
  • Copies of all official transcripts
  • Proof of your Associate’s degree or higher
  • Be prepared with the list of required immunizations and vaccines. This list can be found on the application document.
  • Include a 1-page compelling essay on why you believe you will make a great Radiographic Technologist and how your experiences/talents/passions can contribute to the diversity of your cohort. Format: Include a title page with your title or topic name, your name, and date. Do not include your name in the actual essay. Use Times New Roman/Arial/Calibri, Size 11 or 12-point font, 1.5 or double-spaced spacing. 1 inch margins.
  • Current Resume or CV with job experience listed
  • Document of completed hours and location of shadowed experience in Radiography. See Job Shadowing Recording Sheet
  • *If accepted, students will need to perform a drug screen and background check

Reminder to Applying Students
  • Students pursuing an Associate’s degree or higher must meet all of their degree requirements at the college or university that they are attending prior to starting the Radiography Technology program.
    • Example: Cumulative GPA meets degree requirements (often it is 2.0)
    • Example: All courses have been completed or will be completed before the 1st day of the program.
  • Students must show proof of course enrollment in the Radiography Technology application if they are still completing the last of their classes to fulfill the prerequisites requirements. 
    • Example: if you are taking Human Physiology in the Spring Semester, you must show proof of enrollment. Otherwise, the Rad Tech department will have no way of knowing you are finishing those courses.
