Nurse Assistant Accelerated

**At this time, formerly certified CNA’s in the State of Utah (expired more than 6 months) can seek reinstatement of their certification through a UtahDepartment of Health Variance Request. If granted, this variance waives the requirement to retake a CNA training course and state certification exams to regain certification as a nursing assistant. Certification will not be revoked when the crisis is over and can be maintained if certification requirements continue to be met. There is no cost involved. See the Expired More than 6 Months document under the Forms heading on the utahcna.com website.

The Nurse Assistant Program is run under the direction of the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR).  Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) are valuable members of the healthcare team who work under a licensed nurse.  A CNA can work in a variety of healthcare settings such as: assisted living & skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, clinics, home health & hospice. This program is designed for students to receive their certification by completing coursework in a classroom setting through the use of textbooks, workbooks, demonstration, hands on skills, and clinical externships.  MTECH students will receive training on: infection prevention, proper body mechanics and positioning, caring for the resident and their environment, nutrition, body systems, mental health, and communication. Students will also be First Aid and CPR certified. Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible to sit for the state knowledge and skills certification exams. Clinical and administrative skills taught in the program are listed below.
