Nail Technician


Nail Technicians work exclusively on the hands and feet providing treatments to beautify finger and toe nails. Students are trained in acrylic enhancements, UV/LED hard gel nail enhancements, gel polish and nail artistry. Nail Technicians also perform relaxing manicures and pedicures to keep the nails healthy and beautiful . Nail Technicians are creative and must be focused while they perform services, nail enhancements are created with special attention to detail.

Nail Technicians must keep their client work area safe and their implements clean and disinfected. An important part of being a Nail Technician is customer service and always being professional. The Nail Technician Program includes instruction on professionalism and skills to work in the beauty industry.

Program Snapshot

  Registration Eligibility: Adults and high school students who are age 16 and older and at least a junior in high school.

  Registration Availability: 

Register on Jan 15 for the Mar 18 start date
Register on Mar 19 for the Jun 3 start date
Register on Jun 4 for the Aug 20 start date
Register on Aug 21 for the Oct 21 start date
Register on Oct 22 for the Jan 13 start date

  Program Length: 300 Hours.

  Times: Mornings, Afternoons and Evenings. See schedule details below.

  Locations: MTECH Lehi Main Campus and Spanish Fork Campus.

  Financial Aid Eligible: This program is eligible for Veterans Assistance.

Prerequisites

  High School Students: Students must coordinate with home high school counselors prior to registration to coordinate start dates.

Alpine School District Students: In addition to meeting with the Cosmetology Program Coordinator, students meet with their high school counselor and obtain a Cosmetology Checklist. Once the checklist is complete you must meet with Jess Carter at the Alpine School District Office. Once this is done, submit a completed pre-registration packet to student services to be cleared to register for the program.

 Students are required to meet with the Cosmetology Program Coordinator to work out attendance schedule details and review the Nail Technician Pre-registration Packet. This packet must be submitted to Student Services before students can register for the program.

  Entrance Assessment: Students must take the MTECH Entrance Assessment. The Entrance Assessment is free and takes about an hour to complete. No appointment is necessary. To learn more visit mtec.edu/testing.

  New Student Orientation: Students must complete the brief MTECH New Student Orientation prior to first day of class.  To learn more visit mtec.edu/nso.

The State of Utah Department of Professional Licensing (DOPL) requires a Social Security number in order to test and obtain licensing.
