FAQs

That’s okay! You just have to be a student between July 1, 2023 and June 30th, 2024 in order to compete in the 23-24 competitions.

Nope, you can compete in any event for either Skills USA or HOSA as an MTECH student. Just make sure you talk to your instructor to figure out what is needed to compete.

No, you have to be registered with MTECH’s chapter to compete under MTECH. You cannot compete under both a High School and MTECH chapter.

Nope, neither Skills USA, or HOSA at MTECH requires you to do any meetings or service projects. If you would like to get involved, please contact abby.thompson@mtec.edu, but there is no obligation in order to compete.

Great! As part of HOSA we actually strongly encourage students to pick 2 events. In skills USA since seats are limited, we advise you to work that out with your instructor, and maybe focus on one event to allow more individuals the opportunity to compete from MTECH.

As an MTECH student we only require you to pay the registration fee. For HOSA that is $60, and for Skills USA it is $16. You will have to find transportation to State competitions, but if you make it to nationals, travel, competition, and accommodations are fully covered by MTECH. Food is paid for by the student.
