According to JobsEQ and the Department of Workforce Services, there are 2,100 Payson-area job openings in MTECH Program Areas.
Over the next decade (and across those program areas), JobsEQ and DWS estimate the following growth for the Payson area (e.g., SF, Mapleton, Payson): Manufacturing, 26.0%; Healthcare, 46.7%; Transportation, 30.6%; Construction, 31.7%; Food Services, 35.3%; Technology, 28.9%.
In 2020, Mountainland developed a plan to help solve the workforce demand. Governor Cox immediately supported the project by prioritizing it in his budget recommendation. Shortly after, the 2021 Legislature funded a comprehensive campus for Mountainland Technical College in Payson, Utah. The project was temporarily delayed due to a statewide pause on capital construction.
