Mountainland Technical College (MTECH) LPN graduates came together with faculty, friends, and family to celebrate the completion of their program and participate in the traditional Nursing Pinning Ceremony.
The Pinning Ceremony is a traditional symbolic ceremony that welcomes soon-to-be nurses into the nursing profession and signifies each student's hard work, dedication, and completion of their program. Throughout the ceremony, students and faculty expressed their gratitude for the support system within their cohort and what experiences they’ll encounter in the field.
As speakers imparted encouragement and recounted their own experiences, graduates and audience members took away not only the significance of a nurse, but also the profound aspects of life - from a newborn's first cry to the first tear shed by family members witnessing a loved one’s final breath.
Following the remarks, students lined up to receive their pin. Each graduate invited someone that has made a significant impact on their life to the stage to present them with their earned pin. Each student was filled with excitement and gratitude as they celebrated this monumental milestone.
To conclude the ceremony, graduates and fellow nurses in the audience stood to recite “The Nightingale Pledge”. This pledge is a commitment from nurses to be loyal, responsible, professional, and devote themselves to the care of others.
The Mountainland community couldn’t be more proud of the growth and knowledge that these graduates displayed over their time at MTECH and will continue to provide in the field.
