Additional information

Federal Title IV Financial Aid is available for eligible students who demonstrate financial need. Financial aid is meant to assist students in completing an eligible training program successfully and acquire a college credential. Mountainland Technical College is part of the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE). Since all Title IV eligible USHE campuses are approved separately to provide financial assistance, some differences in delivery methods across campuses may occur.

Once you have been admitted to MTECH and the Financial Aid Office receives the required items listed above, your file will be reviewed for eligibility for financial assistance. MTECH will begin notification of eligibility to enrolled students in mid-March by mailing a preliminary award estimate letter. Award estimates will not be provided until the Financial Aid Office has received all of the necessary paperwork (including the verification worksheet and tax copies).

The total amount of grant awards will not exceed the cost of attendance (COA) which may include tuition, required books/supplies, estimated room and board, personal, travel and sometimes child care expenses.

  • Always apply early when institutional, federal, state and other programs are required in order to attend.
  • Read all instructions carefully and answer all questions accurately.
  • File the FAFSA electronically for quick and accurate processing, or use first class mail for the paper FAFSA.
  • No one is required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a valid OMB control number; for a FAFSA (1845-0001).
  • Notify the Financial Aid Office immediately if there are changes in your family’s financial situation or if you receive outside scholarships.
  • Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the denial or termination of your packaged award.
  • Students must have an NSLDS record on file in the Financial Aid Office, as well as all transfer credits determined in order to be considered for a final award package. Begin the transfer process in a timely manner.
  • Please keep copies of submitted documents for your personal records.

Alternative Private Loans

Private Education Loan Applicant Self-Certification Form

MTECH does not participate in the Federal Direct Student Loan program. However, if a student chooses to borrow from a Private Student Loan (also known as Alternative Student Loan) program, the office of financial aid can certify enrollment when requested by the Lending Institution. Additional information can be located at the following website locations:

*Note: This is a summary; further information regarding financial aid programs and student eligibility is available in the Financial Aid Office.

MTECH works closely with various government and private agencies who may sponsor adult students. Agencies include Department of Workforce Services and Utah State Office of Rehabilitation. Others may also be available. Questions regarding services rendered should be directed to the agency. A listing of community aid and other services is available at the Financial Aid Office.

Other financial resources that should be considered include scholarship aid that may be available through high school organizations; church groups; and other civic or social organizations.  Often companies provide scholarship aid for the children of their employees.  It is imperative to defray educational expenses by preparing through part-time work and by not overlooking other possible financial resources.  The MTECH Office of Career Services will assist students in locating part-time employment while enrolled in the college and maintaining satisfactory attendance and academic progress.
