Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)

The Welding Technology: Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) program will prepare students to work in fabrication shops and other industrial type settings. This process is commonly used for fabrication of bridges, waste water treatment equipment, roller coasters, and other industrial projects. Our students will learn to weld to written specifications and to the AWS D1.1 Structural Code.

In this process, students will learn how to weld with Dual Shield and Inner Shield wires, .045", 1/16" and 3/32" diameters, which gives them the needed skills and versatility to weld in the many areas of the industry listed above.

Students will also learn how to read blueprints and how to use thermal cutting processes to prepare their weld materials.  Students learn industrial requirements and occupational skills needed in the welding field. The welding program emphasizes hands-on individualized instruction.
