The Utah County Health Dept. requires all food related businesses to have at least 1 person with this certification. Renewal is required every 3 years. The ServSafe program helps prepare students for the culinary industry and for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification exam by covering the following topics: The importance of food safety, good personal hygiene, time and temperature control, preventing cross-contamination, cleaning and sanitizing, safe food preparation, receiving and storing food, methods of thawing, cooking, cooling and reheating food, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), food safety regulations, and more. Classes are in English. Testing is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Korean.

- Programs at the MTECH are based on CLOCK HOURS. Clock hours are actual hours and not credit hours.
- If your program is OE/OE, you can easily calculate the time it takes to complete a program (your targeted completion date) by taking the total hours of the program and dividing it by the number of hours per day you meet. This will give you how many days it should take. You can then plot this on a calendar,excluding weekends and holidays.
