Mornings and Afternoons
Fitters are an integral piece in the metal fabrication and construction industries. It is the fitter's responsibility to take all the separate parts of a project and fit them together into one complete assembly. They use math, tools, and welding equipment to tack parts together to the precise specifications of engineered drawings. They must solve problems as they arise and find alternate methods to complete tasks. Some fitters also completely weld the projects that they fit together themselves.
Students who enroll in the Fitting Technology program will learn to use blueprints, fitting tools, cutting equipment, and welding equipment to fit and tack projects. Assignments in the course are designed to simulate common tasks for fitters in fabrication shops and structural steel construction and erection, as well as the construction and maintenance of pipes for oil and gas pipelines, refineries, power plants, and chemical processing plants. Students will learn to use practical math to solve problems in the fitting process. Class time will be dedicated to both classroom theory and hands-on application in the lab.
Students completing this program will earn an MTECH Program Certificate in Pipe Fitting.
Registration is available to adults and high school seniors only.
