In the digital media profession, designers combine art and technology to communicate ideas through images and the layout of web screens and printed pages. They may use a variety of design elements to achieve artistic or decorative effects. They develop the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, magazines, and corporate reports. The Digital Media Technology Program provides a strong foundation in the diverse fields of graphic design, digital /audio/video. It offers both theory and hands-on application in the production of electronically-generated media that can be used in print, television, film, websites, and mobile computing.
Students will design creative collateral for companies and/or clients. Course topics include UI/UX, Design Principles, Photography, Video Production, Image Manipulation, Vector Illustration, Desktop Publishing, Motion Graphics, Web Design, Small Business Marketing, and a Final Portfolio. Students will gain the skills necessary for entry-level employment in Digital Media careers and be introduced to industry practices for the following fields:
- Graphic Design
- Motion Graphics & Animation
- Front-end Web Design
Students will work with the Adobe Creative Suite of software, and students will learn literacy and production skills in the following software and programming languages:
- After Effects
- Premiere Pro
- HTML and CSS

- Professional Portfolio
Registration Eligibility: Adults and high school students who are age 16 and older and at least a junior in high school.
Registration Availability: Registration is open on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Students usually start the following Monday. To check seat availability, create a new student account in the MTECH Student Portal and check seat availability or call Student Services at 801-753-6282.
Program Length: 630 Hours. The day program will take approximately 10-12 months and the night program will take approximately 14 months.

Note: This program is a HYBRID program. Students attend class Monday through Thursday at their registered time. On Friday, students will be assigned a HYBRID assignment to complete outside of class. All Hybrid assignments must be completed and submitted by 7:30 am on the following Monday for credit, otherwise the student will receive an absence.
