Automotive Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3)

A3- ASE identifies Manual Drivetrain/Axles as an individual service area for certification. This program covers the manual drive train, which is a series of components that transfer power from the engine to the wheels. Manual drive trains are controlled directly by the driver through the use of a clutch and a manually shifted transmission. This is offered as a standalone program or as part of the full Automotive Technology program.

This program covers the following:

  • Hands on and theory training in Shop safety, electrical fundamentals, manual transmission/transaxle theory
  • Operation and repair, clutch operation and repair, axle/differential operation and repair, and other related control systems operation, diagnosis and repair
  • Manufacturer web-based training, ASE practice testing, and final exam.

ASE Certification Exam at an independent testing facility at the conclusion of the course.
