The Mountainland Technical College Cosmetology Program participated in the annual InspHAIRation charity event.  The event was produced by Relik Salon and Spa and held at the Covey Center in Provo.  All proceeds of the event went to Brooklyn Trapp, a nine-year old girl who is battling cancer. For most cosmetologists, cosmetology is more than just cutting hair. Anyone who has a good hair dresser or barber will concur.   Ultimately it is about the friendships and relationships that cosmetologists create with their clientele that make it rewarding.   For MTECH Cosmetology students, participating in this event allowed them to showcase their skills as well as contribute to a worthwhile cause.  Darlene Durrant, Thanksgiving Point Salon Director said, “This event was awesome because students were able to be creative and show their personality through the hair designs they chose.” InspHAIRation showcases designer and creative hair, makeup, and nails from local cosmetology schools in Utah Valley.  The event provided a positive atmosphere for Brooklyn and her family.   Durrant said, “The beautiful thing about InspHAIRation is that you get multiple schools that come together in support of a cause.”  Every year, InspHAIRation produces events to raise funds for a specific cause.  Last year, money was raised to increase awareness of hate crimes and how to prevent them. The instructors, students, and staff would like to thank Relik Salon and Spa and InspHAIRation for their organization and production of the event.  MTECH is proud of its cosmetology program.  The students are always anxious to participate in events that sponsors great causes.  Last year, the MTECH Cosmetology Program had 100 percent licensure and 98 percent job placement rates.  These statistics were highest in the state of Utah.
