Mountainland Technical College and Associated General Contractors held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the partnerships’ new building. Both MTECH and AGC are pleased with the growth of their partnership that develops skilled construction workers to supply the job market with competent, skilled workers.
The building will serve as the training grounds for many students interested in the construction industry. Initially, a small portion of the building was leased to MTECH for the new partnership. However the program has tripled since its beginning causing a need for an expansion. MTECH leased and renovated the entire building making it more conducive for student learning. The renovated building now has a new classroom and a large shop for the hands-on aspect of the training.
Kirt Michaelis, Vice President of Finance at MTECH said, “The great part about AGC is that we get employers like Jacobsen and Okland that come together to train their employees for the jobs that the various companies have.” MTECH supplies the instruction to the prospective employees of AGC companies. Michaelis said, “There are so many jobs available in construction and not enough employees to fill them.”
MTECH is the leader in producing skilled workers for the Mountainland Region’s job market. Since 1989, students have benefitted from hands-on, skill based learning. The school is proud to be the official training provider of AGC and is excited about the renovated building. MTECH President Clay Christensen said, “Mountainland Technical College is very appreciative of our partnership with Associated General Contractors. Together we are addressing the educational training needs of a vital economic sector in the state of Utah. This newly renovated facility will provide a great learning environment for our students and we look forward to accomplishing many more great things together in the future.” Both MTECH and AGC are appreciative for members of the community, government, and media in attendance at the ribbon cutting ceremony.
