Why are we testing?

As our colleagues at the University of Utah have said, “It’s about safety.” Of course, social distancing, mask-wearing, and hand-washing are a significant part of pandemic safety. But testing also plays a critical role because of asymptomatic spread. And, with the state providing rapid tests, MTECH can support asymptomatic testing.

The more often we can conveniently provide tests, the more quickly we can help identify those in need of support.

In short, the more we test, the safer we keep everyone, and the more quickly we can get back to our regularly scheduled lives.

Who does this help?

Health experts agree that helping control the spread of COVID-19 is a group effort that requires social distancing and face-coverings.

Asymptomatic testing is an effective way to know if we are some of the thousands of people in the community who may be 'silent spreaders' - or, those people who show no symptoms of the virus, but have it and spread it unknowingly.

Testing FAQ

While we encourage everyone to support the public health of the MTECH community, there is no penalty for not participating.
MTECH will test anyone who is asymptomatic (exhibiting no symptoms) and wishes to receive the test (while supplies last). Minors will need to have a parental consent waiver. MTECH will not test anyone currently exhibiting symptoms.

There is no cost for the test.
